Sony Australia has just announced its new range of VAIO notebooks and PCs, the new models in the range include the highly anticipated X series ultra-portable notebook, CW series and the L series all-in-one PC.

The X series was previewed to Current.com.au at a recent press launch last month, but most of the details were still unconfirmed. Now the X series has been officially announced, complete with all the specifications.

Sony is boasting that this new model is the world’s lightest notebook with a screen size over 10 inches, weighing in at just 655 grams. But what sets this VAIO further apart from its competition is the ultra-thin form factor, measuring in at just 13.9mm when fully closed.

In addition to this, the X series can last up to 16 hours when combined with an optional eight cell battery.

Jun Yoon, channel marketing manager for VAIO at Sony Australia commented on the new release.

“The VAIO X offers everything you need in a business notebook – and nothing you don’t,” he said. “It is extremely light and thin, yet with embedded 3G wireless connectivity and an extremely long battery life, stands up to the rigours of daily business use.”

The X series boasts an 11.1 inch LCD screen, 17mm key pitch isolation keyboard and a new touch pad with zoom and flick navigation.

The VAIO X series comes in three models, the VPCX113KG/B (RRP $1,699), VPCX115LG/B (RRP $1,899) and VPCX118LG/B (RRP $2,499).

Another new release from Sony is the VAIO L series all-in-one PC, which is the first VAIO to be equipped with a multi-touch optical sensor display.

“If you’re looking for the ultimate hub for family enjoyment, look no further than the impressive new VAIO L series with its intuitive touch panel operation, allowing you to interact with your PC easier than ever before,” said Yoon.

“The sleek design of this all-in-one PC and the wireless keyboard ensures any desk can be kept clutter free.”

The VPCL118FG/B VAIO L series comes at an RRP of $2,999.

The VAIO CW series is also set to be launched, which is being promoted as an all-round notebook, due to its power, style and portability.

“The VAIO CW packs a lot of power into its stylish and compact body, making it the perfect everyday notebook to suite your individual lifestyle,” said Yoon.

“Wireless LAN and Bluetooth have been included to increase mobility while on the go and the new WEB button lets you jump online in seconds.”

The CW range is available in two models the entry level VPCCW15FG/B/P/W (RRP $1,799) and the VPCCW1AGG/B (RRP $2,299).

All models in the new VAIO range will be available in October.
