A major product recall has been announced for a faulty Samsung TV stand that can cause your large flat screen television to fall, creating a massive safety risk for consumers.

According to the release, the base of the television is affixed to the top of the Perspex stand by four screws and the neck of the stand is affixed to the base of the stand by way of a further six screws.

Apparently cracks have appeared around the location of the screws in some models.

The recall has highlighted that this poses a major safety risk for consumers due to the fact that it may cause your TV to fall off the stand. This is a major concern for small children who may become seriously injured or even killed from the large TV screen.

The recall is for the Samsung 55 inch television stand with model numbers LA55650T1FXXY, UA55B6000VFXXY and UA55B7100WFXXY. All models have several effected serial numbers, for the whole list please visit www.recalls.gov.au.

The effected products were sold nationally between May and June 2009 and all consumers will be contacted by telephone and mail. If consumers want further information they are being urged to contact 1800 016 794.
