ASUS Australia has just announced the availability of its new Eee PC T91, which features a swivel touchscreen to open up possibilities for tablet usage.

The new model is the first with an 8.9 inch touchscreen with touch-optimised software that enables users to get the most out of finger or stylus input.

One of the major advantages ASUS is promoting with the T91 is the fact that it provides users with flexibility with an accessible form factor. When the unit is folded flat it can even be used while standing up.

The TouchSuite software applications for the T91 are also an added bonus for T91 users, allowing you to use a variety of applications with the touch of a finger or stylus.

Various tasks can be completed including: touching up photos, creating photo albums, leaving handwritten desktop memos, and sketching cartoons or custom emoticons.

TouchGate also lets consumers switch between different user interfaces like: Windows XP, Widget Mode and Touch Mode.

In terms of measurements the Eee PC T91 is 225cm by 164cm and weighs 0.96kg, which according to ASUS makes it one of the smallest and thinnest gadgets with an 8.9 inch screen in the world today.

The unit also features WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth connectivity and ASUS’ exclusive Super Hybrid Engine which reduces energy consumption up to 15 per cent, and allows for up to 5 hours of continuous use per charge.

20GB of free online storage can also be accessed with the T91 on its Eee Storage system.

The Eee PC T91 will be available in August at major retailers and computer resellers for an RRP of $999.
