Bing Lee and Sony Australia have  announced that they will both be major sponsors of Hyundai A-League club, Sydney FC, for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.

The new collaboration will see Bing Lee continue as the major home shirt sponsor, but Sony will now be the major sponsor on away shirts and home shorts.

“Sony believes in the power of football – around the world and here at home in Australia. As we move to the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, we know football is going to get even bigger here than it already is,” said Carl Rose, managing director Sony Australia.

“Our support for the game, from FIFA right through to local Hyundai A-League clubs, shows our commitment to the passion and excitement of the world game. We know Bing Lee shares this passion, so to unite with them to become a co-sponsor of Sydney FC creates a fantastic opportunity for us all.”

Phil Moujaes, Bing Lee general manager, was also confident with the sponsorship deal.

“Now entering our third consecutive year as major sponsors, we’ve already recognised the synergies between Sydney FC and Bing Lee. With the strength of the Sony brand now on the team as well, we look forward to a rejuvenated season of football, support and success,” he said.

CEO of Sydney FC, Stefan Kamasz, was thrilled to have both companies supporting the team.

“To have two such outstanding companies on board as major sponsors is fantastic for the club and a great boost as we look ahead to the start of the new season,” Kamasz said.

“Bing Lee has been a very important member of our football family for a number of years and we are thrilled they have agreed to extend their sponsorship.  Sony is an organisation with strong links to football, both in Australia and overseas and their decision to become a major sponsor is a great endorsement of the new direction we are taking here at Sydney FC.”
