SYDNEY: Vodafone Australia has announced it is now taking orders for the new HTC Magic Google Android device through a dedicated website. Vodafone currently has exclusive network rights for the white new mobile handset.

Pre-registration sites are traditionally set up to gauge consumer anticipation for a product for logistics purposes and to generate publicity in the lead up to the launch. Current.com.au will be covering the launch event from Simmer on the Bay on 28 May.

Before then, however, consumers who intend to purchase the HTC Magic can register at this website. Talking about Vodafone’s exclusive launch detribution of the white model is head of Vodafone Australia consumer markets Edward Goff.

“Vodafone is thrilled to be launching an exclusive version of the HTC Magic. We will offer both the black and white variants to our customers – the white of which is exclusive to Vodafone – and Google branding,” said Goff.

“In addition, the Vodafone exclusive device comes with Firmware Over-the-Air software which automatically updates handsets with the latest Android software, ensuring our customers always enjoy the best possible user experience.”

Features of the HTC Magic include a 3.2-inch touchscreen, Android-optimised browser, multiple Google applications and YouTube.

“HTC is delighted to launch the second Android-powered phone into the Australian market, the HTC Magic – a new addition to HTC’s growing family of phones.”  Said HTC sales and marketing director Anthony Petts.

“Our collaboration with Vodafone Australia and Google will enable users to experience a superior mobile internet experience, providing broad flexibility for personalisation through the application-rich Android Market.”
