A national recall has been issued on Brivis branded evaporative coolers, with the possibility of a broken pump causing property damage or personal injury.

The coolers were manufactured and sold in Australia from 28 August 2000 to 21 November 2003, with a serial number 403265-563076.

The evaporative coolers use water stored in the base of the unit which is pumped into a distribution system within the unit’s roof that directs the water to the cooling pads through which air is drawn and cooled. This air then passes into a system of ducts within the roof space to provide cooling.

The Product Safety Section of the ACCC has issued the recall due to the fact that the water circulating pump in these units may fail and, in extremely rare cases, property damage and/or personal injury may result.

Consumers are advised to stop operating the unit and contact Brivis on 1800 0430 214 or visit their dedicated website at www.brivisadcoolerrework.com.au so that arrangements can be made to carry out the required rework free of charge.
