SYDNEY: Direct drive motors, subsequent 10-year warranties, steam ‘dry cleaning’ and dual washers and dryers are key features of the new premium laundry range from LG Electronics, launched today.
LG’s new laundry care range with its Direct Drive Motor System includes a new stainless steel steam washer, steam washer and dryers, a combined washer and dryer, as well as front load washers and some new top load washers as well. The machines are available in a range of sizes from 7 kilograms up to 10 kilograms.
The Direct Drive System turns the washing machine drum directly, rather than using a belt and pulley system common on many washing machines. LG says this results in fewer moving parts and reduced machine wear-and-tear and noise. It means less vibration and movement on drum, which results in less stress on the springs and dampers supporting it. The reduced wear and tear means that LG can offer a 10-year warranty.
“The Direct Drive Motor is quieter, more efficient, more durable and covered by a 10 year warranty for added peace of mind” said LG Electronics category manager, Whitegoods, Glacel Lubrin-Zabat.
The new steam washer/dryers and steam washer machines also feature an Allergy Care function that maintains a consistent temperature level of up to 60 degrees for 10 minutes to assist in the reduction of allergens such as dust mites. Also, the 20 minute Steam Refresh cycle uses no detergent and less than one litre of water to deodorise and reduce creases in clothes. And a Baby Care and Medic Rinse washes at 60 degrees and rinses at 40 degrees.
