SYDNEY: The Good Guys has lost its application to trade on Easter Sunday and Anzac Day morning, with the New South Wales Office of Industrial Relations ruling they are not eligible for an exemption. The decision on whether the group can open for Boxing Day trading has been deferred till later in the year.

The Good Guys head office in Melbourne, Ian Muir Electrical Group, had been lobbying the NSW government for exempt status throughout March and April. The Group had wanted permission for all its NSW franchises to open for trade on these three restricted days. The decision to disallow trading on Easter Sunday and Anzac Day morning does not auger well for the upcoming decision for Boxing Day.

Current.com.au understands the Group were informed of the decision earlier this week.

Other retailers refused permission to trade include Westfield Shopping Centres, Centro Property Group and Best and Less. Earlier this month, Target, Kmart, Myer, Officeworks and Clive Peeters were refused exempt status.

All stores are able to trade on Anzac Day, but only after 1pm.
