Canon Australia has this morning announced the upcoming release of two new photo printers. The new models, aimed at professionals and advanced hobbyists, will be available for retail in June 2009.

The first of these models is the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Photo Printer. This model features ten pigment-based ink colours: photo black, matte black, grey, cyan, magenta, yellow, photo cyan, photo magenta, red and green. Canon reported that this model employs the Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) technology, along with a 7,680 nozzle print-head structure. This reportedly means the Mark II model provides significantly faster production times delivering one-and-a-half times faster print speeds on A3+ bordered prints than earlier models.

Supporting this model is the eight-colour PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Photo Printer. This model features  Canon’s FINE print head technology, coupled with Canon’s 6,144-nozzle print head, which canon claimed is capable of producing nearly invisible ink droplets of just two picoliters.

“Canon is known among professional photographers for providing the right capture and output tools to manage their photographic creations and the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Photo Printer continues to deliver on that tradition with its superior quality and archival life,” said Canon Australia brand manager, consumer image products group, Beryl Thomas.

“With the growing number of enthusiasts capturing professional-quality photographs with digital SLR cameras, it’s only natural for photographers to want to maintain creative control over their photos by printing the images themselves on products like the new Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II.

“These professional and emerging photographers understand and appreciate the creative control that Canon provides over image quality, from capture to output.”

The RRPs for both these products is yet to be finalised.
