Club Nintendo, a new loyalty program for Nintendo users, has just been launched in Australia, and promises to reward members with various Nintendo products.

All Nintendo fans need to do to join is simply visit http://www.club-nintendo.com to register their details and complete a short survey. Once users are registered, members can create a profile and are able to register further Nintendo products.

For every new product registered, members are then prompted to fill out a survey, once completed they will be rewarded with Stars, which are used to claim prizes.

Heather Murphy at Nintendo Australia comments that “members can collect Stars and swap them to redeem exclusive Nintendo merchandise only available via Club Nintendo, some of the exclusive rewards include the Game and Watch Collection for the Nintendo DS and a leather finished Nintendo DS game case”.

Nintendo has also mentioned that bonus Stars will also be awarded on special occasions like Birthdays, which can be used to redeem various items from the online catalogue.

In other related Nintendo news, the Kyoto-based company has revealed that the 100 millionth unit of the DS portable was shipped out to retailers last week.

This figure covers shipments across all territories worldwide and includes all three versions of the handheld unit, the original DS, DS Lite and the new DSi.

As well as hardware shipments Nintendo has also revealed that software has had impressive results with 83 games eclipsing one million units, with seven of these topping 10 million.
