WHISTLER, CANADA: Former JB Hi-Fi general manager, Frank Garonzi, and Appliance Connexion chairman, Peter Drummond, have been appointed to the board of the Narta Group.

Garonzi joined the board this month, following the retirement of Clive Savage who started the Clive Peeters and Clive Anthonys retail businesses, which are now both part of publicly listed organisations.

Garonzi retired from his role as general manager – software and hardware at JB Hi-Fi in July last year after 10 years with the company and 34 years in the industry. A former accountant and musical instrument salesman, Garonzi joined Douglas Hi-Fi in 1974 before joining Teac until 1999 when he left the Melbourne supplier as deputy managing director to join JB Hi-Fi.

“Frank brings with him a wealth of experience, from both the supplier and retail sectors. I am sure Narta will benefit from Frank’s contribution,” said Narta chairman John Wipfli addressing delegates at this week’s conference.

Drummond joined the board of Narta International Australia last month and will continue to sit on the board of Narta New Zealand along with other members including the managing director of Smiths City Rick Hellings and Bruce Theirbach from JB Hi-Fi New Zealand.

Wipfli also acknowledged the appointment of Graham Boggs to the role of New Zealand manager. Boggs recently retired as managing director of Panasonic New Zealand.
