Pioneer’s Australian office has today told Current.com.au that contrary to reports from other media outlets, it will not be closing down and that it will continue to operate for the foreseeable future.

Yesterday, a tabloid news agency in this industry published unsubstantiated rumours under the headline “Pioneer head office closure imminent”. Despite including numerous quotations denying such an event happening, the story predicted that the office would close and workers would lose their jobs. Neither the Japanese parent company in its release last night, nor the Australian office itself, has given any indication that such a closure is imminent.

Current.com.au further understands that this story created stress and significant unease amongst Pioneer employees and business associates, who feared their jobs would be lost without notice within a short timeframe.

More information on how Pioneer’s most recent announcements will affect Australia will be reported later this morning.
