SYDNEY: Philips Consumer Lifestyle has appointed Sanjay De to replace general manager replacing Matt Moran, who will be leaving Australia to take up a senior marketing position in the company’s TV business in Amsterdam.

De has been appointed to the position of senior operations manager for Australia and has years experience in sales, marketing, product management and operations. De has been with Philips in Australia since the start of 2007 and prior to this held senior marketing roles in the company’s European offices since 2000.

De’s appointment follows the announcement that current Philips Consumer Lifestyle General Manager, Matthew Moran has accepted a new role as senior director marketing in Philips’ global TV business. Moran will relocate and take up his new residence in the company’s Amsterdam headquarters before the end of the month.

Despite leaving the flat panel television and consumer electronics market late last year on a direct sales and marketing basis last year, Philips continues to market products through distributors including Crest and the Breville Group, which will be managed by De in his new role.

“Philips Consumer Lifestyle continues to be a market leader in Australia through its strong distributor partnerships in the areas of male and female grooming, garment care, DLO iPod and iPhone docking stations and accessories, headphones and Avent mother and childcare products,” De said.

“Following the introduction of the kitchen appliances category in 2008, Philips Consumer Lifestyle is set to further grow its footprint in the Australian small appliances market this year.

“The company would also like to reassure its retailers and consumers that warranty and support will continue for the company’s television products in the Australian market,” he said.
