MELBOURNE: Clive Peeters has revealed plans to  eventually open another store in Hobart to obtain operating efficiencies from the state and capitalise on the absence of other retailers including JB Hi-Fi.

Clive Peeters CEO Greg Smith told Current.com.au the Moonah store which opened in  2006 is one of the leading stores within the company and he believes there is a market for an additional store in the Tasmanian capital.

“Moonah was profitable from day one and there was an immediate response from consumers as it stood out with 3,500 square metres of retail space,” Smith said.

“We see potential for another store there, more on the north side which will help with sharing advertising and warehousing costs across two stores, and not just the one.

“A lot of the Harvey Norman stores in Tasmania were acquired and do not have the standard footprint of a Harveys store in other states and players like JB Hi-Fi are not in the market either.”
