SAN FRANCISCO: Apple introduced its new iPod nano model, the fourth generation of this iPod model. At the Let’s Rock event in San Francisco, Steve Jobs enthused about this model, and the new iPod touch, which was also introduced.

The new iPod nano, the thinnest in the MP3 player’s history, features a two-inch display with a curved aluminium and glass enclosure. This form factor has been designed with the intent of better fitting into the user’s hand. The iPod nano’s two sizes are 8 gigabytes and 16 gigabytes, and both models will be available immediately. Colours include silver, purple, blue, green, orange, yellow, pink, red and black.

Talking about the new nano model is Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

“The iPod nano is the world’s most popular music player and we’ve made it even better for this holiday season,” said Jobs. “We think users are going to love the amazing new design, the automatic Genius playlist creation, as well as automatically going into Cover Flow with just a turn of the wrist.”

Additional features include a refined user interface, a high resolution portrait display, and a built-in accelerometer which automatically switches to cover flow when rotated and to shuffle when lightly shaken.

The iPod nano 8 gigabyte is available now for RRP $199.
The iPod nano 16 gigabyte is available now for RRP $279.
