SYDNEY: Nokia today introduced Emile Baak, its new general manager for Australia and New Zealand. Baak comes to Australia from Brussels, Belgium, where he was the general manager for the Benelux countries.

Baak is now responsible for the overall management of all strategic and market operational issues, including sales, marketing, distribution and logistics for Nokia Australia and New Zealand.

Originally from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Baak joined Nokia in 1999. Before that, he worked in Barcelona for Hewlett Packard and in his native Holland for Philips Consumer Electronics. This experience at major consumer electronics brands came after he completed a Masters of Science in Applied Mathematics from Delft University of Technology, and then a post-graduate degree in Marketing.

His previous experiences at Nokia include working as a marketing manager for networks, a key account manager for Nokia Mobile Phones, and as general manager of the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg).
