IPSWICH: Tom Edwards, the managing director of the RT Edwards electrical business, today issued a statement which claims it is “business as usual” after selling to Radio Rentals in South Australia, which is owned by Peter and Barry Walker.

“Queensland retailer RT Edwards has changed ownership with the message that it is business as usual for the company that has been serving the Queensland market since 1931,” the statement said.

“The new ownership will be the only major change to the business. It will otherwise be business as usual trading under the familiar name RT Edwards.”

Tom Edwards, whose father Roy started the business in 1931 selling electrical services throughout the Ipswich region on his bicycle.

“We are very proud of the great work being done throughout all divisions — retail, warehouse, admin, merchandising, service and rural. While the economic climate is challenging the company is strong and performing well exceeding a turnover of $100 million,” Edwards said.
