Sony has announced that it has signed on to become an official sponsor of the Queensland Roar football team. This comes just days after Current.com.au reported that WOW Sight & Sound at become an official partner.

In addition to being a sponsor of the A-League team, Sony has also been named the Preferred Electronics Supplier of the football club. This partnership is set to be recognized through Sony’s branding appearing on the shorts of the Roar’s first team and the jerseys of the club’s youth team. Additionally, Sony signage will be displayed at Suncorp Stadium, homeground of the Roar.

Speaking about this sponsorship deal is Sony head of strategy and brand development, Toby Barbour.

“As major sponsors of the Football Federation of Australia and global partner of FIFA, it was a natural link to sponsor the dynamic Queensland Roar team. This sport is one of the fastest growing in the country, and this new partnership provides us with an opportunity to continue to develop and support this growth, particularly in an important market like Queensland,” said Barbour.

Barbour’s enthusiasm for the deal was echoed by Queensland Roar chief executive, Lawrence Oudendyk, who said, “Sony’s contribution to the A-League and National Youth League squads will help the Roar continue to develop Queensland’s football talent, not just for the coming season, but also for the future”.
