SYDNEY: Chinese whitegoods company, Haier, has given details of its equipment outlay for the Beijing Olympic Games, with over 60,000 products donated to the Olympic and Media Villages.

Products include air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and water heaters.

While air conditioner numbers were not available, Haier said it had donated 13,236 CFC-free refrigerators, including 5,353 that use carbon dioxide as a refrigerant and 1,500 washing machines, including 530 detergent-free units and over 700 double-driven machines.

Haier also said they installed 2,864 square meters of solar panels for air conditioners and water heaters in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Court and the Olympic Village Restaurant.

According to Haier’s figures, this system will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2,140 tons per year.

Haier Group’s contract with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) in Qingdao on August 12, 2005, made Haier the first official home appliances supplier in the history of the Olympic Games.
