SYDNEY: Amid reports that accountancy firm PKF is set to terminate its sponsorship agreement with the Cronulla Sharks after the Greg Bird glassing incident, LG has released a statement saying it will not be undertaking such action.

“LG is committed to supporting the club and is not commenting on the incident,” said an LG spokesperson.

Bird, who appears in television commercials promoting coverage of the NRL wearing LG-branded clothing, was arrested last weekend and is alleged to have assaulted his girlfriend with a drinking glass – attacks of which are referred to as ‘glassing’.

So far this season, Bird has been named man of the match in a test match and a State of Origin match, but looks unlikely to play in an LG Sharks jersey again this season.
