SYDNEY: LG Electronics has recalled two microwave ovens due to the possibility of an electrical short circuit posing a shock risk to users.

The two microwaves being recalled are model numbers MS2346VR and MS2347GR. These microwaves were sold between September 2007 and up to now. Only models with serial numbers between 708 and 802 are believed to be affected.

The defect details have been described as the “possibility of an electrical short circuit which in extreme cases may result in an electric shock to the user”.

Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the products and to contact a customer information line. By doing this, consumers can arrange to have the microwaves taken to an authorised service centre for inspection and repair. This service will be free.

Before calling, any affected consumer is asked to record their model and serial number to assist the information line operator.

The information line number is 1800 506 154. This service is open between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
