SYDEY: Samsung has confirmed the appointments of Kurt Jovais and Lambro Skropidis, first reported in early May, and announced a series of new marketing placements.

Jovais has moved to a new role, director of marketing, whilst Skropidis has replaced Jovais in his old position of senior manager of corporate marketing.

Additionally, Samsung has announced the appointments of four new positions. These are Mark Leathan, senior manager of CE marketing; Nick Segger, AV marketing manager; Sagar Dave, digital audio visual (DAV) marketing manager; and Scott Saxton, product manager – DVS.

Leathen was formerly the general manager of whitegood marketing. His new role will focus on improving communication between marketing, sales and customers, whilst overseeing the product management and marketing for consumer electronics products.

Segger takes over from Rodney Rodriguez and will be responsible for all flat panel TV and home theatre marketing activity. He will work in conjunction with Samsung’s TV and home theatre product managers to grow this part of the AV category.

Formerly the DAV product manager, Dave will now look after the marketing activity for camcorders, Blu-ray and DVD players, MP3 and DSC products.

Filling Dave’s old role is Saxton, who comes to Samsung after seven years at Sony. His role will be to position DVD and Blu-ray in the marketplace. Whilst at Sony, Saxton worked on the launches of AIBO, the robotic dog; and the Playstation 3 gaming console, amongst others.
