MELBOURNE: Whirlpool has timed the introduction of its new 4.5-star washing machines perfectly, announcing they will be in shops as soon as New South Wales switches to its new 4.5-star rebate standard.

The new 7.5 kilogram washers, the WFS1071BW and WFS1273BW, will hit shelves from August, selling for $799 and $899 respectively.

The prices mean Whirlpool is in a unique space, with the closest of its 4.5-star rivals sitting well above the $1,000 mark.

Rivals Ariston, Bosch, Indesit, Miele, Fisher & Paykel, Kleenmaid, Stirling and LG all feature 4.5-star washers, but priced well above the new Whirlpool machines.

”Whirlpool is proud to continue its dedication to developing state of the art, environmentally friendly laundry solutions for Australian households. We are sure that our new range of 4.5 star front loaders will deliver both great washing results and the rebate assistance consumers are looking for in NSW and WA,” said Whirlpool Australia national marketing manager, Michael Van Raay.
