AUCKLAND: Despite its move out of manufacturing in Brisbane and Dunedin, F&P it will maintain its other customer service, marketing and other non-manufacturing staff in both Australia and New Zealand.

In its ASX announcement, Fisher & Paykel said it would be keeping its New Zealand sales and marketing team, customer care centre, finance company and head office in its home country.

The remaining Auckland refrigeration factory and the above offices employ over 1600 people.

Fisher & Paykel Australia national marketing manager, Peter Russell, said while the Brisbane plant closure meant F&P would have no Australian manufacturing presence, the company’s large Australian call centre would “stay put”.
