AUCKLAND: Fisher & Paykel’s engineering and design staff will remain in New Zealand, despite the move to shift manufacturing offshore, as announced today.

Fisher & Paykel chief executive and managing director, John Bongard, said, “Although we are shifting some of our production facilities offshore, our products will continue to be developed in New Zealand by Fisher & Paykel Appliances engineers.

“We have some 300 engineers in New Zealand continuing the excellent design work that has resulted in world-leading, innovative product releases over our long history,” said Bongard.

Bongard also announced he would be sending key Australian, New Zealand and US staff to oversee and manage the manufacturing processes in the new facilities, to “ensure the highest quality standards are maintained.”
