SYDNEY: Fujifilm has released the latest in a long line of new digital still cameras with its ‘SLR-style’ FinePix S1000fd, which offers 12x optical zoom in a compact package.
Fujifilm claim the RRP $399 camera is “one of the world’s smallest 10-megapixel long zoom digital cameras”.
“The versatile 12x optical zoom on the FinePix S1000fd offers an expansive shooting capability of 33 m-396 mm (35 mm equivalent) for greater range and flexibility,” said Fujifilm senior category manager – Consumer and Professional Products, Matt Dole.
The new camera has a ‘Picture Stabilisation Mode’, which automatically sets the optimum shutter speed and light sensitivity to reduce camera shake, the obligatory face detection system (with automatic red-eye removal), can shoot at up to ISO1600 at full resolution (ISO3200 at three megapixel resolution) and has a Panorama mode that stiches up to three consecutive shots together.
The FinePix S1000fd also offers manual control so that keen photographers can select camera settings such as resolution, ISO, aperture and shutter speed.
Other functions and features include High Speed Shooting mode; movie recording at 30 frames per second with sound and electronic image stabilisation; and 13 pre-programmed scene modes including Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower and Text.
“Another key feature of the FinePix S1000fd that is particularly useful for holiday or outdoor photography is the long-lasting battery power delivering up to 300 shots,” said Dole.
The camera’s 2.7-inch high resolution LCD can display images in a 10×10 array, and the camera can use a selection of storage media.
“The FinePix S1000fd features an xD/SD/SDHC compatible media slot that accepts Fujufilm’s traditional xD-Picture Cards as well as Secure Digital (SD) and SD High Capacity (SDHC) cards as well,” Dole said.
