HANNOVER: Breville has announced it has won an iF Gold Award for its BES820 Professional 800 Collection coffee maker at the iF Design Awards, held in Hanover on 4 March.

While over 850 products received an award of some variety, including two of Breville’s new Professional 800 Collection toasters, only 50 received an iF Gold Award.

Breville’s flagship Professional 800 Collection Espresso Machine was awarded in the highly competitive, household category for its superior design.

Breville’s director of Design and Innovation, Richard Hoare, said the BES820’s win was a fantastic result for both the company and Australian industrial design.

“It is a great honour for Breville to be recognised once again for its design excellence and capabilities when competing against some of the biggest brands and best designers on the world stage,” he said.

Hoare said the entire design team had trained as baristas, which had “given us the right mindset to make the best espresso machine.”

The iF Product Design Awards received 2,771 entries from over 35 countries worldwide this year. They are designed to promote awareness of the significance of design, as well as to provide a competitive setting for manufacturers worldwide.
