SEOUL: LG Display has joined the race to make OLED displays, announcing a cross licensing agreement on OLED and related TFT technologies with Eastman Kodak Company.

The decision will mean LG gains access to Kodak’s proprietary OLED materials and process technology, while Kodak will gain access to LG’s TFT substrate technology.

According to a company announcement, the deal will strengthen the two company’s research and development capabilities and assist in manufacturing the next generation panels.

No date was set for when LG will enter the OLED television market.

LG is now the fourth company to confirm they will move to OLED production in the near future, following Sony, Panasonic and fellow Koreans Samsung.
