SYDNEY: Sharp has released the latest entry into the 2.1ch home thatre market, their $799 HTDV40H.
The DVD-based system, which comes with a two-speaker central speaker box and subwoofer, uses Dolby’s new ‘Audistry’ technology to improve sound signal quality, as well offer a ‘Sound Space Expander’ to fill the room, ‘Natural Bass’ and ‘Intelligent Volume Control’, which differentiates between soundtrack, dialogue and commentary and compensates for sudden volume changes.
Total sound output is 250W RMS (75W per channel and a 100W subwoofer) and while DVD-based, can upscale to 1080i and output via HDMI to an HD-capable television.
The HTDV40H is DVD, VCD, MP3, WMA, JPEG, CD-R/RW compatible and also comes with a USB host for streaming music files from USB devices or MP3 players. Other terminal options S-video, video out (RCA), DVD component out, optical audio input (x2), analogue audio input and Scart terminal. The system also comes with an FM tuner.
Matching Sharp’s recent Aquos televisions, the system uses a piano black and silver finish.
