Creative Labs co-founder Nick Angelucci leaves business

SYDNEY: Creative Labs Australia co-founder and long-serving national sales manager, Nick Angelucci, will leave the business next month and will be replaced by 10-year Canon veteran, Greg Tollhurst.

Angelucci was one of the founding members of the Australian subsidiary for Sigapore-based mp3 player manufacturer, Creative Labs, which began in 2000, and has held various roles within the business including marketing manager, and more recently national sales manager.

His tenure at the company extends back to the early days of the mp3 category before Apple’s iPod arrived.

Prior to starting the local Creative business, Angelucci worked for seven years as a distributor for Creative PC products.

Angelucci declined to comment to Current.com.au this morning, but confirmed he is leaving Creative by his own decision.

An announcement is expected to be made shortly about his appointment at a new company within the consumer electronics industry.

The Creative business has been undergoing significant changes since parting ways with distributor Shriro Australia in favour of an in-house distribution model.

Creative Labs Australia and New Zealand country manager, Bernard Koh, said Tollhurst’s appointment as sales manager – Australia and New Zealand, is a positive for the business given his experience in retail with Harvey Norman and on the vendor side with Canon and Samsung.

“We welcome Greg on board and look forward to working with him,” said Koh.

“This is a sign that we are serious about the retail trade and we are investing heavily in this area. Greg’s appointment is an important part of our business strategy and his understanding of the retail business is very important.”

Details of Tollhurst’s prior roles are limited, but Koh confirmed he worked for Canon in a sales role with printers and imaging for 10 years.

Prior to Canon, Tollhurst worked for Samsung for six years and in retail with Harvey Norman.
