SYDNEY: Electrolux has officially opened their new Mascot headquarters with a special dinner attended by global president and chief executive Hans Stråberg and Floorcare and Small Appliances president and chief executive Morten Falkenberg.

The pair joined Asia Pacific (APAC) Major Appliances head Gunilla Nordström, APAC   Floorcare and Small Appliances head Suresh Balan, Electrolux ‘ambassadors’ Testuya Wakuda (who oversaw the dinner) and fashion design Alex Perry, other unnamed dignitaries, key retailers, designers, architects and journalists to mark the occasion.

Australia and New Zealand managing director Trevor Carroll said that although it was a relatively short distance from the old premises to the new headquarters, the new head office opening symbolised the end of a ‘momentous’ eight-year journey since Electrolux purchased Email Major Appliances.

“During that period, Hans and the Electrolux board shared and supported our vision in transforming the company from a manufacturing-based operation into where it is today – a modern, design-focussed sales and marketing organisation,” Carol said.

The new head offices incorporate interactive kitchen showrooms, premium and concept product displays and the Asia Pacific design studio, headed up by Lars Erikson.

Stråberg and Carol also joined head office staff the next day on the office terrace for a lunch prepared by another celebrity chef, Luke Mangan, on the new range of Electrolux barbecues, due to be launched in Australia and New Zealand in the new few months.
