Morphy Richards Australia has appointed former Salton and Russell Hobbs executive Wayne Kelly as the first of their new brand-specific state account managers, for Victoria.

Kelly worked at Salton and Russell Hobbs for the past five years, and signed with the company in early December last year. However, due to postponing his start, he will begin at the company next week.

Morphy Richards national sales and marketing manager Murray Barnes said the new position was part of a broader strategy to help develop the brand after its new contract to sell the brand, signed with the UK head office late last year. A NSW account head would be appointed in the coming months as well, he said, with other states to follow over the next two years.

The role was previously handled by various Asko account managers nationwide, Barnes said.

“They will still be doing that, but this is an additional specific account manager for Morphy Richards as well, so basically it’s … not just the account managers looking after Asko and Morphy Richards, but they’re specific for Morphy Richards as well.”

“We’re rapt, because he’s a really highly respected account manager in the industry,” he said. “He’s a really passionate, sales oriented guy.”

Kelly will report to Tony Diggs, Morphy Richards Victorian state marketing manager.
