MELBOURNE: Whirlpool has appointed Emerson Valle, the company’s current vice president for international sales and new profit pools for the Latin America region, as its new Oceania vice president.

Valle replaces Mark Poole, who returned to Canada at the end of September after two years in the role and helped take the local subsidiary to record sales levels.

A joint statement released by Whirlpool Asia president Mark Hu and Whirlpool Latin America president, José Drummond Júnior, said Valle will be expatriated to Whirlpool Asia and will be in charge of the company’s operation in the Oceania region.

Valle, who will report directly to Mark Hu, will commence in his new role at the end of January 2008 based at the Head Office in Scoresby, Melbourne.

Valle joined Whirlpool in 1987 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Advertising. He has a Business Administration and International Commerce degree from INSEAD and an additional Marketing qualification from Stanford University. Valle also has an MBA from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP).

“The appointment of Emerson Valle represents the on-going commitment by the Whirlpool Corporation in the Oceania market,” said Whirlpool Oceania general marketing manager, David Graham.

“Having a Vice President with extensive experience in Sales, Marketing and International Product sourcing will ensure the continued growth of this strategically important region," he said.
