MELBOURNE: Whirlpool Asia has appointed Emerson Valle, the company’s vice president for international sales and new profit pools for the Latin America region as its new Oceania vice president, based in Melbourne.

Valle replaces Mark Poole, who announced he would be returning to Whirlpool Canada at the end of September to become director of appliance, care, corporate strategy and core competencies, after taking the local subsidiary to record sales levels during his two year stint in Melbourne.

According to a statement, issued by Whirlpool Asia president Mark Hu and Whirlpool Latin America Region president José Drummond Júnior, Valle will be expatriated to Whirlpool Asia and will be in charge of the company’s operation in the Oceania region – responsible for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Valle wil report directly to Hu and commence his new role at the end of this month. He will be based at Whirlpool’s existing head office in Scoresby.

Valle joined Whirlpool in 1987 and holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising. He also has a Business Administration and International Commerce degree from INSEAD and an additional Marketing qualification from Stanford University. Valle also has an MBA from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP).

“The appointment of Emerson Valle represents the on-going commitment by the Whirlpool Corporation in the Oceania market,” said Oceania general marketing manager marketing, David Graham.

“Having a vice president with extensive experience in sales, marketing and international product sourcing will ensure the continued growth of this strategically important region," he said.
