TOKYO: Sony Computer Entertainment has announced it will introduce Skype features to the new PSP Slim and Lite model.

The new addition to the PSP’s features list gives users with a wireless internet connection, Memory Stick Duo and Skype-compatible input device access to unlimited free phone calls.

PSP owners will be able to use Skype contact list management, the ‘presence’ feature, which allows users to see which friends are online and available to talk, make SkypeOut and optional SkypeIn calls to and from landlines and mobile phones anywhere in the world (if users purchase Skype credit) and view and modify settings and account details.

The function will be available to users worldwide after they download a software update in late January. PSP owners without an existing Skype account can register by clicking the new Skype icon on the menu. Users with a Skype username can immediately sign in by clicking the Skype icon and entering their username and password.
