SYDNEY: Hi-fi and home theatre products distributor, Convoy International, has appointed a second area manager for Western Australia – former Harvey Norman O’Connor 2IC Shand Updegrove.

Updegrove joins Convoy as an additional sales representative for the Western Australian region, having spent the past six years with Harvey Norman including a four-year stint most recently as the second-in-charge at the retailer’s O’Connor store near Fremantle.

“The continued and sustained growth in Western Australia has seen the need to bring in a second area manager into the business,” said Convoy International managing director, Alex McInnes.

“Having Shand join the team will allow our two area managers to service the region more effectively and gives us greater confidence in our ability to offer our dealer network solutions to consumers via high levels of retail development and support.”

Updegrove will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with WA retailers of Convoy’s portfolio of brands, which includes Bowers & Wilkins, Classe, Harman Kardon, JBL home and car products, Monster Cable and OmniMount.

This will involve retail staff training and development through hands-on support, promotions and other initiatives, the comapny said.

According to Convoy, Updegrove’s experience with Harvey Norman along with his passion for audio makes him a valuable and welcome addition to the distributor’s sales representative team.

Updegrove recently retired from playing baseball, which he played professionally in the US as well as in the Western Australia state league for the past 20 years.
