MELBOURNE: Despite the equine influenza epidemic that has devastated NSW horse racing, TCL Electronics Australia today announced its continued official sponsorship of the Melbourne Cup Carnival in November 2007, supplying televisions for the racing carnival.

According to race organisers, the Victoria Racing Club, a full schedule of races will be held during this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, despite the ongoing issue of the horse flu affecting NSW racing causing speculation that there will be fewer overseas visitors to the event this year. The Victoria Racing Club, carnival sponsors and punters will continue on undeterred and the Melbourne Cup itself has been shown to the public on a tour throughout New Zealand and Australia for the past four weeks.

TCl Electronics’ official TV supplier sponsorship package includes the TCL Electronics Plate race on Oaks Day to be televised on Channel 7, as well as prominent signage for the duration of the carnival including a sign on the big screen at the 200 metre mark, and a permanent 14 metre x 3.6 metre sign.

TCL also announced it co-sponsorship of the Pin & Win promotion and Crown Oaks Day lunch.

“The Melbourne Cup Carnival is one of Australia’s premier sporting and social events and TCL are pleased to be involved with such a prestigious event,” said TCL Electronics Australia’s CEO, David Esler.
