SYDNEY: Iconic Australian photographer Ken Duncan has been named as Panasonic’s Ambassador for its Lumix digital camera range.

Famous for his panoramic landscape photography, Duncan’s work has appeared in publications such as Time and National Geographic as well working on several book projects in locations such as Malaysia, China and Hollywood. Duncan was also named International Music Photographer of the Year for his groundbreaking work with Australian rock band Midnight Oil.

Duncan will be involved in a number of educational and promotional activities during the next two years as part of his role as Panasonic’s Australian Lumix Ambassador.

“I am impressed with the quality and innovation of the Lumix range,” Duncan said.

“Features such as Mega OIS and Intelligent ISO are across the entire range and help people to take better pictures.

“I hope to help photo enthusiasts and everyday snappers increase their photographic knowledge and capture better looking shots as the first Panasonic Lumix Ambassador.

“Digital camera technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, with Panasonic introducing sophisticated technologies such as increased zoom and better image stabilisation, as well as more automated functions. Cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix range can deliver commercial quality images in a very compact format.”

Panasonic’s Lumix range includes wide-angle compact and digital SLR cameras. They feature technologies such as Intelligent Auto and Intelligent Image Stabilisation System, to make taking great photos easy.

Intelligent Auto Mode combines features such as Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection System and Quick Auto-Focus to minimise the need to adjust settings every time conditions change.

Intelligent Image Stabilisation System combines MEGA Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) to compensate for hand-shake and Intelligent ISO Control to detect and adjust for motion blur caused by subject movement.

Steve Rust, Managing Director, Panasonic Australia said Duncan would make an ideal ambassador.

“Ken Duncan’s incredible panoramas have captured Australia at its most beautiful and dramatic for more than two decades. He has shaped the way many of us view this country,” Rust said.

“We’re delighted to have Ken as our first Panasonic Lumix Australian Ambassador and look forward to working with him to develop opportunities to share his considerable experience and knowledge with others.”
