SYDNEY: Hitachi has released the pricing for its world-first range of Blu-ray Disc camcorders coming to Australia next month, which will go up against DVD, flash memory and hard disk drive HD camcorders.

Consisting of two models, the range will launch to the Australian market on 15 November.

The DZ-BD7H is a hybrid model featuring a Blu-ray Disc drive and hard disk recording, and will retail for $2,999.

The entry model, the DZ-BZ70, simply features a Blu-ray Disc drive for 8cm recordable discs and will retail for $2,499.
Hitachi first announced the range in August when it launched in Japan.

In other news, Hitachi has launched a promotion giving consumers up to $100 cash back with selected DVD and hybrid camcorders between from now until the end of December.

Consumers who purchase a DZ-GX5060 or DZ-GX5100 DVD camcorder between 1 October and 31 December will receive $50 cash back.

Consumers who buy the DZ-HS500 Hybrid DVD and HDD camcorder during the period will receive $100 cash back.
