Retravision contributes $2 bn to the Euronics buying group

BERLIN, GERMANY: Europe’s largest retail buying group, Euronics, has quoted the turnover contribution Retravision has made to its group at the 2007 IFA exhibition in Berlin.

Euronics International president, Werner Winkelmann, who conducted a presentation at the Retravision seminar in Alice Springs in May, has referred to the $A2 billion contribution from its membership in Australia and New Zealand.

At a presentation conducted at IFA, Winkelmann said there has been a nine per cent increase in sales year on year to 12 billion Euros ($A20 billion), while in Australia and New Zealand the Retravision group has contributed 1.2 billion Euros ($A2 billion). Euronics stores are all independent electrical retailers, who as members of Euronics, the largest electrical buying group in Europe, join forces for improved buying power.

Euronics boasts retailers in 9,400 locations in 26 European countries as well as Australia and New Zealand that reach over 600 million people.

“The IFA is the most important place for displaying the capabilities of the consumer electronics sector and we are using it firstly to show the concentrated strengths of our international community,” Winkelmann said in Berlin.

The 400 square metre Euronics display modelled like a retail store, did not allow consumers to purchase from the stand but instead provided retailers with best practice marketing and merchandising concepts for products, including LCD televisions, portable navigation, IT, mp3 players as well as electric shavers and washing machines. Euronics also used the IFA display to discuss interior fitout, advertising, e-commerce and member communication strategies.
