MELBOURNE: Pioneer’s 50-inch Project Kuro PDP-LX508D plasma, which will soon hit Australian shores, has been recognized by judges of the prestigious European Image and Sound Association (EISA) awards as Europe’s best full HD plasma screen.

The EISA judging panel, which consists of editors from 50 of Europe’s leading consumer electronics magazines, commented that ‘once again Pioneer has reaffirmed its mastery of plasma picture quality’.

“The Full HD PDP-LX508D sets a new standard for that key benchmark of home cinema video performance: black level depth,” the EISA judges noted in their appraisal.

“To achieve this exceptional result, Pioneer has simultaneously improved the three fundamental display elements – panel, filter and electronics – while at the same time paying close attention to picture processing, including motion compensation subsystems.

“Plus, as befits such as home cinema workhorse, the PDP-LX508D is also capable of reproducing high definition movies in their original format of 24 frames per second, exactly as they would be seen in a movie theatre.”

According to Pioneer Australia, this is the fourth consecutive year that Pioneer has received an EISA award for one of its plasma screens.

Last year saw Pioneer’s world-first 1080p 50-inch plasma, the PDP5000EX, named European HD Component 2006-2007.

Pioneer Australia will launch the new Project Kuro plasmas including the 50-inch award-winning LX508D later this month.
