PERTH: Oral B ran a competition through participating Coles supermarkets nationwide from 4 June to 2 July that gave consumers who purchased any Oral B product the chance to win a trip to Melbourne and a further chance to win either $10,000 or $1,000,000.

South Perth resident Damien Travers was selected from thousands of entries for Oral B’s Million Dollar Smile competition and was flown to Melbourne to draw the grand prize on Saturday 15 September.

The Million Dollar Smile draw was held at Melbourne’s Luna Park where Damien had to pick one out of 200 chattering teeth. One of the chattering teeth held the ticket to one million dollars, and the remaining were each offering the $10,000.

“It is great to give this great opportunity to one of our customers, but more importantly it encourages people to replace their old toothbrush, which is key to maintaining good oral health,” said Oral B spokesperson Jolie Egan.

Travers’ winning prize included return airfares for two to Melbourne, five night’s accommodation in a luxury hotel, breakfast daily and transfers.

A painter and decorator for Sully’s Painting in South Perth, Travers said he was excited and nervous in the lead up to the draw.

“I couldn’t’ believe I was the lucky winner. I’m originally from New South Wales, but love Perth and would really like to buy property here. I intend to use the $10,000 to pay off debts and enter the property market.”
