ADELAIDE: Harris Scarfe Adelaide general manager – merchandise electrical and homeware, Pieter van Wessem, has announced his resignation from the company after five years of employment there.

Van Wessem will officially leave the company in mid-October, after which he will move to Melbourne to take up the role of father and husband on a fulltime basis.

During his time at Harris Scarfe, Van Wessem had been a key player in the rebuilding of the business under the new ownership, managing a team of buyers who bought across the electrical, homeware and manchester ranges of merchandise.

Van Wessem developed an expertise in catalogue marketing with the Harris Scarfe catalogues.

"The Harris Scarfe marketing plan is heavily driven by catalogue marketing," he said. "I estimate that in the five years I have been involved in the production of more than 200 Harris Scarfe catalogues."

Prior to Harris Scarfe, Van Wessem was divisional manager of entertainment merchandise at Kmart for seven years.
