Pioneer Australia cuts 22 jobs in ongoing restructure

MELBOURNE: Pioneer today announced the second stage of its restructure with measures including 22 job cuts, the establishment of a new customer call centre and a new plan to outsource all of its Complete Plasma Experience (CPE) installations to external agents.

According to Pioneer, between consolidating three separate customer-focused operations and changing the CPE program, 22 roles were made redundant, which included a mix of office and field roles.

“A number of these staff members have been redeployed to our external service providers. In addition, we have also provided them with a number of support services to assist their career transition, including career development workshops and financial planning advice,” said Pioneer Electronics Australia general manager – corporate strategy and marketing, Simone Owen, in a statement today.

Included with the purchase of every Pioneer plasma, the Complete Plasma Experience program entitles consumers to free delivery, installation and demonstration of their new plasma.

Pioneer claims the move to shift 100 per cent of installations to independent service providers represents a strengthening of its commitment to the CPE program by ‘partnering with professionals in the field of installation’.

“Pioneer is continually reviewing the business to optimise performance,” said Owen.

“These changes are a reflection of this ethos, which we believe provides us with the best structure to service our customers for the foreseeable future.”

Cameron Stewart has been promoted to the role of customer care centre manager, while Michael Broadhurst has been promoted to PR manager for the home entertainment group following the departure of corporate affairs manager, Sandra Cowan.

Collette Black has taken on the role of PR coordinator for the mobile entertainment group.

All changes are effective immediately.
