SYDNEY: Thomson Telecom has today issued an alert notice regarding the plastics integrity of the power adaptor supplied with the Telstra V900 twin cordless telephone.

"A plastics integrity issue during the manufacturing process has affected a particular batch of these power adaptors. The fault may cause the casing to separate and potentially expose the internal circuitry," the notice said.

"A general alert is being sent as a precaution to customers with the V900 Twin Cordless telephone handset advising them to check their adaptors.

"In the interests of good service and Thomson Telecom’s reputation for excellence, we want to ensure Telstra V900 Twin Cordless Telephone customers exchange their adaptors if they are broken or damaged."

To assess and exchange the adaptor, consumers are advised to turn off the power outlet without touching the adaptor; unplug the power adaptor and visually examine the unit. In the event that it shows any sign of cracking or damage, consumers are advised to discontinue use immediately and carefully dispose of the power adaptor.

Any affected consumers are advised to visit www.thomsontelecom.com.au/recall.html and enter their details.

Thomson will then arrange a replacement adaptor to be sent out within seven days.
