SYDNEY: Builders Choice, the sole Australian distributor of Italian-made Nobel appliances, has announced it will plant a tree for every oven it sells for the life of the company in a new ‘green’ policy—an attempt to reduce the environmental impact of production.

“We’ve been trying to get our products’ energy rating up and make them more environmentally friendly during our last trip to Italy,” said Builders Choice co-director, Jason Stephens.

“Technically we can’t do it at the moment so for every oven we sell we will be planting a tree.”

Builders Choice has partnered with Landcare Australia to implement the initiative. Landcare is a national network of 4,000 community groups and volunteers who banded together to protect and care for the environment.

“People who purchase these ovens can take part in Australia’s revegetation,” said Landcare business development manager, Matthew Reddy.

“As a result there are a number of multiple environmental benefits including reduced erosion, increase in wildlife habitat, greenhouse gas reductions in the atmosphere and improved water quality.”

Builder’s Choice distributes 10,000 ovens per year in Australia.
