SYDNEY: Omega has announced the release of an emerging range of portable high performance cooking appliances specifically designed for use on boats, caravans, in tents and studio apartments, with the range to be extended over the next few months.

Included in the range will be the Omega OIC16S portable induction cooktop (RRP $199 with a four litre induction-compatible saucepan) as well as a portable oven/grill with twin built-in hotplates, the Omega Mini Kitchen MK1 (RRP $370).

The 1,500-watt OIC16S offers all the advantages of an inbuilt induction cooktop – instant heat, faster cooking times, safe no-heat cooking zone and greater control over cooking temperatures, as well as a low-profile, contemporary design finished in stainless steel with user-friendly electronic controls to adjust temperature, time a cooking process and even program ahead.

It also features a one metre power cord, two year warranty, pre-set temperature settings for steaming and frying plus individual settings of 70, 110, 130, 160, 190 and 220 degrees centigrade.

The Omega Mini Kitchen MK1, while only the size of a small microwave oven measuring just 325mm(high) by 580mm wide and 340mm deep, will roast a chicken, bake a cake, grill a steak and boil an egg or simmer a sauce and features a 22-litre capacity oven.

The oven aspect of the Mini Kitchen includes an upper and concealed lower element, a 1,000-watt full-width grill, thermostatic temperature range of 0 to 250 degrees celsius, easy clean enamelled walls and floor and ample room for roasts, poultry and cakes.

Both elements on the cooktop have six heat settings and sit within a large 600ml spillage catchment and will suit all sized cooking vessels.
