MELBOURNE: Sunbeam today announced its long awaited entry into the portable cooling category today with a range of premium metal fans on display at the Harvey Norman Conference at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The range, conceptualised in Switzerland by premium design team – Stadler Form – features three models which range in price from $119 to $199.

The FA2800 (RRP $119) is a 25cm desk size fan which features a 30 watt motor, the FA8400 (RRP $149) is a 40cm floor fan which features a 60 watt motor and the FA8800 (RRP $199) is a 40cm pedestal fan with a 60 watt motor.

According to Sunbeam category manager, Adam Tacey, the 60 watt products compare with high velocity fans, yet are quiet enough not to create excessive wind noises.

"These fans are manufactured from coated steel with an aluminium and zinc casing. They offer nice air flow and provide efficient footprint," said Tacey who joined Sunbeam last year after seven years managing the marketing for the seasonal range of Dimplex heating and cooling products at Hagemeyer.

"We wanted to make a lifestyle statement with these fans which remains within the core Sunbeam values – performance while retaining a good looking product. Ultimately it has to blend into modern decor while remaining functional."

The Sunbeam fans will be released from 1 September and will complement the heating products in the brand’s seasonal range.
