Castel Electronics, who last month lost the distribution rights for Toshiba AV products, has signed a distribution agreement with Daewoo Electronics that will see a range of products, including AV and whitegoods, rolling out from June 1.

Daewoo product – commercial sales manager, Jonathan Peart, told Current.com.au the company has developed a new slogan, “Daewoo, Day In, Day Out” to accompany the launch activity.

“The Daewoo brand offers quality product at competitive price points and will be supported nationally with billboard advertising,” Peart said.

The new range includes 32, 37 and 42-inch LCD TVs with integrated high definition tuners, while 42 and 46-inch 1080p LCDs will be introduced in September. The range of DVD players includes two LCDTV/ DVD combos.

The whitegoods line-up offers three side-by-side refrigerators in silver or white finish with the premium model featuring a water/ice dispenser and home bar. There are also two top mount fridges in white or silver and two bar fridges.

Four microwaves are available in a choice of stainless steel, silver or white from 20-litre to 30-litre capacity together with a 1000-watt pizza oven combo. Laundry comprises four front load machines, three with direct drive technology, while new products will hit the floorcare range in the fourth quarter of 2007.

As well as Daewoo, Castel distributes TCL air conditioners, McIntosh audio and Orion electronics.

Daewoo first entered the Australian market in 1989 with a range of entertainment products but stopped local distribution in 1997.
