SYDNEY: The Narta group has attracted another member from Retravision in New South Wales with the acquisition of the 2,000 square metre Soundys Tamworth store, effective tomorrow.

Soundys Tamworth, which will now trade as Soundys Electrical & Computers, operates four stores in the New England area – the superstore in Tamworth as well as smaller branch stores in nearby Quirindi, Manilla and Barraba.

According to a statement issued by the directors of Soundys Retravision, Leonie Munn, Paul Turner and Stephen Carter, the decision to leave Retravision was not an easy one.

“The association with Retravision over the past 14 years was fruitful even though soured by the events with Retravision NSW being placed into receivership,” the statement said.

According to the directors, the problems with Retravision NSW were the catalyst for Soundys to take a good look at its future.

“Though joining Retravision Northern would have been an easy and comfortable option the directors of Soundys felt their future lay in other directions,” the statement said.

“In an increasingly tough market Soundys is committed to remaining a viable business by offering quality products backed up by efficient and knowledgeable service.”

“We wish everyone involved with Retravision continued success and thank them for their support and friendship over the years,” Soundys director, Stephen Carter said.

According to Carter, Narta’s emphasis on premium brands, in particular in the cooking appliance category, is a synergy that appeals to Soundys.

"The product mix and method of going to market that Narta employs is a great fit for the way we want Soundys to head. We are now in control of our own destiny," said Carter.

“The assistance given by the team at Narta has been wonderful, enabling the deal to come together in a very short time frame.

“The enthusiastic response from suppliers has also been very encouraging and has enabled us to continue providing our customers with the quality brands they expect to see in our stores.

“We are looking forward to a successful relationship with Narta and we are very optimistic about the future for Soundys”.
